Is it worth buying expensive paitings from a local painter ?
Report
We have a great painter in our town and he had some galleries in town and in other cities. Is well known for his work, but when i wanted to buy a painting i discovered a huge price. I don't know if he is registred as a professional painter. He give some certificate that is original made by him. Does it worth buying ? do you think the price will be the same when I decide to sell it ? How can you estimate the price of a paint ?

Maybe you should try to buy some of his paintings from another source. If the price is higher or at least the same with the painter's price than you can buy directly from him.
As far as i know the value of a painting will always increase so, speaking in general terms, a work of art is a wise investment.
About the certifications, i donno what to say, artists in general may not be very in tune with birocracy so he might not care that much about certifications but he might care about mixing the colors well.
