How does the Shepherd's Purse plant look like?

This month:
The Shepherds Purse is a herbaceous plant, 50 cm high, widespread throughout the country, in plains and hilly areas, in uncultivated places but also in crops, the sides of the road, ditches, gardens and so on. The places where it grows are sunny or with a little shade, in wet and dry areas, in loose soil and trodden earth. In the desert, or rammed and lighted places, its height is only 10 cm and can be free of branches. In moist and shady places with loose soil, the Shepherds Purse reaches the maximum height, produces full and thick basal leaves and its stems richly branch off. It has white and small flowers which form a stalk-shaped inflorescence. On the stem hang the fruits which are small heart shaped capsules. Herbivorous animals are very fond of eating this plant, especially once the snow melts in spring, when it rises fresh and green.
