The desire to align to the compact SUV trend brought the new Peugeot 2008. Taking the DNA of the 208 dwarf, the little giant from Sochaux comes with a totally different design that displays competition. True, the gauge fits into the same rules, but we are dealing now with a raised 208 and ready for off-road abuse, at least for those who did not want too much from a small SUV.

The new Peugeot 2008 is recommended as an ideal urban SUV for clogged and congested roads. With a length of 4160 mm, it slips easily through parking issues, while the negligible total mass gives it shape. Attacking the Opel Mokka and Nissan Juke, the new 2008 manages to impress with the style known for the Peugeot family. The front seems massive for a small crossover, abounding in chrome elements and generous glass surfaces. The front brings the redesigned optical block from 208, daytime running lights with LED lights and a muscular face mask. Seen from the profile, the new Peugeot 2008 brings a small version of 4008, the same lines and the French style, still processing the Lilliputian proportions. Reinforced plastic parts, classic SUV off-road pretensions, are positioned so that the body elements are protected from rocks and boulders. Its 17-inch alloy wheels create a very attractive dynamic line, but very sensitive and lacking in practicality when running in dirt roads.

The back copies almost perfectly the 4008 style. The strongly inclined tailgate makes taillights migrate to the shoulder, while the rear mask provides the ideal dose between the practical use of an urban SUV and the sportsmanship necessary for a lion However, the icing on the fresh cake of 2008 is the large panoramic roof, an option which changes not only the external visual impression, but the impression of spaciousness offered by the ideal vehicle. Unfortunately, there are no official images with the interior of the new Peugeot 2008. As for engines, the official data is lacking, but it is obvious that the French rely on the same engine found in the current fine 208. For customers who want a strong SUV, the e-HDI units and supercharged petrol engines would be ideal. The official launch of the new Peugeot 2008 was set for the Geneva Motor Show in 2013, the right time and price to find the smallest SUV from the Peugeot portfolio.
