Kohlrabiis an herbaceous plant which for the first time appeared in the Mediterranean area, being cultivated in there from ancient times. Nowadays, it is widespread in Germany, Great Britain, and in the Nordic countries in Europe.Both the leaves and the stems are used. After they have been collected, they should be used in a few days, before they harden. Kohlrabi offers proteins, lipids, glucose, the vitamins B1, B2, C, minerals, calcium, potassium, iron, sodium, and phosphor. It is mostly indicated for the articulations, for teeth, and it is a good protector against infections and wounds of any kind. It is also recommended for diabetics, and for those who are suffering from anginas or bronchitis. Kohlrabi improves the cells oxidation, helping our immune system to be more efficient. The oxygen will be this way faster and better transported towards the blood cells, and we will gain much more energy.With all these, people having problems with the thyroidal gland are not recommended to consume this vegetable. The turnips leaves can be eaten raw, in different crudities salads. Also, they can be added in the composition of various types of foods and soups, offering a very good taste.
