The history of this interesting game begins in 1969 in the Brunswick Company, one of the largest manufacturers of billiard tables around the world. A team of engineers formed by Phil Crossman, Bob Kenrick, and Brad Baldwin, all three hockey enthusiasts, devised a project. Thus they built a special air hockey table, a wooden table covered with a plastic and accessorized with a shiny surface whose role was to reduce friction. At that time, table hockey remained only a concept, but in 1972, another company employee previously mentioned, Bob Lemieux, resumed and completed the project with an air system based on pucks and created speeds similar to the effect of puck movement on ice. Also Bob Lemieux created an electrical system that allowed recording scores. At this point, we can say that this exciting sport that very soon became a success was born.
