Let's say you're bored and you want a new challenge when it comes to a video game. You've got a huge assortment of genres and venues that encompass everything from hatching farm animals to battle the forces of evil on a galactic scale, but for the adventurous you might want to know what makes for great adventure games?

Well that all depends on what type of adventure you're looking for. If you're ready to see if you can outwit the ancient puzzles and traps laid down by some far gone civilization, battle robbers, rescue the scientist's daughter and save the world. Or perhaps you would find yourself battling the hordes of invading zombies from another dimension while solving the secrets of the mystical arts? These adventure games just don't end when it comes to the wild combination of possible fun you can have.

It all boils down to one thing when it comes to adventure games and that is: are you having an adventure? It doesn't get anymore complicated than that. There must be great characters to play, a strategy that allows you to use your skills and tools to solve the problems and then do you feel great after you've conquered your challenges? It just can't be a game of endless repetitive violence; it's got to have a plot and a strategy that allows you to grow as a person. That's what adventure is all about, facing challenges, dealing with wins and losses and growing and improving knowing you won the game by your wits, courage, and resolve.

So that is what makes adventure games so great. It's you becoming a better you. It's you seeing that you can take on that monster or that evil villain and his henchmen, that you can follow a map, handle your tools and weapons and finally, to end up with the confidence that you can handle whatever comes your way as a challenge in life's adventure.
