Basically, carbohydrates are digested and converted into glucose or sugar revitalizing the body with energy and vitality for the moment. Probably everyone knows that carbohydrates can be found in foods like bread, biscuits, cereals and pasta, but also in vegetables and fruits. Any carbohydrate that is not a fruit or vegetable is included in the broader category of cereals.Carbohydrates are divided in two categories simple and whole. The difference between those two types is given by the time necessary to convert food into glucose. The more complex the cereals the more energy is needed during the digestive process. When the body digests these types of cereals, glucose is released slowly into the system, allowing the body to use part of the energy produced during digestion. On the other side the simple carbohydrates are already digested. The level of glucose rises rapidly. The more complex the cereals are, the better the bodys metabolism will be, increasing fat burning potential.Whole carbohydrates can be found in pasta, oatmeal, bread made of germinated wheat, seeds etc. Simple carbohydrates can be found in white bread, white potatoes, biscuits, rice cakes etc.
