30.000 years ago this place was a giant prehistoric lake ,lake Minchin and when this dried he left two small lakes Poopo and Uru Uru and two salt desert Salar de Coipasa and Salar de Uyuni.
In the dry season Salar de Uyuni is an immense white salt desert but in the wet season he offers one of the greatest views the human eye can see,the real miracle who attracts the tourist here.When it rains the desert becomes the largest mirror in the world .The clouds and the blue sky are reflected in the water creating a landscape unique in the world and .If you look up youll see the sky,if youll look down youll se the sky.
In south towards the Chillian Border we have 3 lakes.First the Laguna Verde ,an green lake (the colour of the lake comes from the high concentrations of metals from the volcanic activity that occurs near).
The second lake , Laguna Blanca got its name from the white water on the high concentration of minerals
The third lake ,the Laguna Colorada is a red lake because of the algae and microorganisms that live there.
If you want to visit this desert you could stay in one of the salt hotels constructed here.First was build in 1993 entirely from salt,the roof the floor the walls even the chairs were made from salt.Since then more and more hotels made from salt appeared in this region.
